Sweet & Spicy Chipotle Pineapple BBQ Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 cup ketchup
- ½ cup crushed pineapple (canned or fresh; include juice for extra flavor)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1–2 chipotle peppers in adobo, minced
- 1 tablespoon adobo sauce
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon oil (for sautéing)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:

Sauté Aromatics:
Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until soft (about 5 minutes). Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds more. -
Add Remaining Ingredients:
Stir in ketchup, crushed pineapple with juice, brown sugar, minced chipotles, adobo sauce, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. -
Simmer:
Bring to a simmer and cook uncovered for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened. -
Blend (Optional):
For a smooth sauce, blend with an immersion or regular blender. If you prefer it chunky, leave it as is. -
Season & Adjust:
Taste and add salt, pepper, or more sugar or chipotle as needed.
